Permit for Moving Heavy Vehicles, Loads, Objects or Structures in Excess Of Dimensional Limits or Weights as Prescribed in the Highway Traffic Act on Township of Southgate Highways

Special permission is hereby granted pursuant to Section 110 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act R.S.O. 1990 Chapter 8 to:

This permit is subject to the following conditions

The movement for which this permit is issued may be made during DAYLIGHT HOURS except SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS OR STATUTORY HOLIDAYS.

This permit may only be used for the purposes designated above. 

Every precaution must be taken to safeguard other users of the Hightways.

This permit is valid only upon the Township of Southgate Highways between the points named. If other highways must of necessity be used, permission must be secured from the proper authorities pursuant to Section 110 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

In accepting this permit, the person or persons to whom it is issued agree to hold blameless the Township of Southgate for any damage which may result from the movement of this load or object and to indemnify the Township of Southgate for any damage caused to Township property.

Subject to half load restriction when and where applicable in accordance with Section 122 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

This permit is to be carried by the Driver and is subject to the provisions of the Public Commercial vehicles Act.

This permit is not valid for passage over bridges on which signs are displayed indicating restricted loads or gross weights.

Subject to condition 1, vehicles and loads having a width in excess of 2.6 metres and/or an overall combined length in excess of 23 metres must display in a conspicuous position to the front and rear, a clearly discernible sign reading “CAUTION WIDE LOAD” or “CAUTION LONG LOAD” or both, as the case may be.

This permit may be cancelled without prior notice.

Please note that the Ontario Provincial Police require two (2) weeks notice prior to commencing the move. The applicant must pay a "Duty Pay" to the Ontario Provincial Police.
